A short history of the Combs Miniature Railway I have always wanted a Model Railway but never got around to completing a layout as I was more interested in building models of different locomotives from RTR stock. However, with the onset of diminishing years (75) and very energetic four year old grandson "JACK" who is very mechanical minded, and a push from Peter of Onehouse Model Railway I started in March 2002 on the construction of "Combs Minature Railway" to be based on the "SR" in the late 1950s & early 1960s with all types of power units. The conditions that were imposed were that the layout had to be portable, an "L" shaped end to end unit, also it was to be built to exhibition standards, (the last bit was Peter's) and installed in the garage !!!
